Language within panels
Language policy statement
While the administrative and dominant communication language of AEGIS is English, as an organization at least three core working languages are recognized within AEGIS events, namely English, French and Portuguese.
With regard to panels at ECAS 9, we acknowledge that while the majority of panels will be solely in English, there will be others proposed to be entirely in either French or Portuguese, or that will be bilingual or multilingual as required. While multilingual panels have caused some of confusion in previous ECAS conferences, we leave it up to the panel conveners to decide the most appropriate composition of panel participants, and the best language option/s for the panel, including creative modes of translation as needed.
The conference cannot offer bilingual translation services as a whole during the conference, but depending on available resources, we will try to include conference volunteers who are able to speak French and Portuguese, making them recognizable by special shirts/badges.
We will try our very best to make ECAS 9 and your stay in Cologne as pleasant and inspiring for you as possible.
